About the Artists of YMCA of the Rockies

Since its establishment as the permanent home of the Western Conference of YMCAs in 1909, the YMCA of the Rockies has grown into a year-round family resort and conference center with two locations – the Estes Park Center on the east side of Rocky Mountain National Park and Snow Mountain Ranch on the west side. Both centers have beautiful views of the mountains and easy access to the park. Between the two locations are snowy peaks, gorgeous lakes, rivers, waterfalls, tundra, and pine forests.

For many years, artists have visited the area and felt inspired to create pieces based on the breathtaking natural world surrounding them. Some of these artists have been part of the Y’s Artist in Residence program, some have been residents of the town of Estes Park, and others just felt compelled to share the beauty they saw while visiting. Sydney McCain and Kelly Anne Winkelman, interns at the Lula W. Dorsey Museum at the Estes Park Center of YMCA of the Rockies, put together this exhibition to commemorate the work that these artists have created. These pieces can be found in many places all over the Estes Park Center property including the Lula W. Dorsey Museum, the Maude Jellison Library, the Schlessman Executive Office Building, and the grounds outside.
